Enseñar latín e inventar la patria. La Compañía de Jesús en la Nueva España

Autor(es) Pilar Gonzalbo

Resumen:

Abstract: Jesuits in exile yearned for their Mexican homeland, and they turned their nostalgia into creative impulse, blending memories of their lost home with Italian enlightened ideas. Their integration in the European intellectual milieu and their deep feelings for their homeland did not begin when they left their schools, missions, and residences. They were the result of the political dimension of their education that made the ecumenical compatible with the local and promoted a new, secular conscience.
